Do you like Aragon Ballroom?

The xx

1st May 2017 - Monday 18:30

The xx, England’s sensational indie and electronic artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Aragon Ballroom!

The band was formed in Wandsworth (London) by Oliver Sim (bass and vocals) and Romy Madley Croft (guitar and vocals) when they were just teenagers. They started performing in 2005 and recruited Baria Quershi on keyboards and guitar to complete the line up. Their musical style can be best described as a blend of indie pop (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free), indie electronic (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock with affinity for electronic music, using samplers, synthesizers, drum machines, and computer programs), dream pop (a subgenre of alternative rock and neo psychedelia that developed in the 1980s), and electronic rock. They cite Jimi Hendrix, The Slits, Joy Division, Yazoo, Eurythmics, New Order, Cocorosie, Electrelane, Cocteau Twins, Aaliyah, The Kills, Aaliyah, Mariah Carey, and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark as their main influences. They’ve had a stellar career with 3 studio albums (1 of which went Platinum in the UK), 8 music videos, 5 extended plays, 9 singles, and they’ve also released remixes of tracks by Magic Wands, Florence and the Machine, and Yacht.

Don’t miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to indie and electronic music!
