Built in 1924, the Biltmore Hotel has been the center of Atlanta’s business and social life for almost sixty years. This magnificent landmark was designed by the architectural firm Shultze and Weaver, which also designed such legendary hotels as The Breakers in Palm Beach, New York’s Waldorf-Astoria, The Pierre and The Sherry Netherland. In 1982, after a change of ownership and years of steady decline, The Biltmore closed its doors, once heralded as the “Supreme Hotel of the South.” In 1999, after sixteen years of neglect and abandonment, The Biltmore underwent a complete renovation, transforming the former hotel into a mix of Class A office space, retail and special events. With the renovation of The Georgian and Imperial Ballrooms, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Biltmore quickly regained its status as one of Atlanta’s social and business epicenters. With original handcrafted plaster relief ceilings, restored crystal chandeliers, Palladian windows and Tennessee marble floors, the Baltmore Ballrooms are a truly spectacular backdrop for weddings, corporate events or any social gathering.
